The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has taken further action against illegal online gambling, ordering internet service providers (ISPs) to block eight additional unlicensed gambling and affiliate-marketing websites.
The blocked websites include JokaRoom, AUDPokies888, Aura Play, Instant Casino, Leon, Rich Papa, UUSpin, and Wild Pokies, all of which were found to be operating in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
ACMA’s enforcement measures are part of its ongoing efforts to protect Australian consumers from unlicensed operators. Since issuing its first blocking request in November 2019, the authority has successfully blocked 1,154 illegal gambling and affiliate sites. Additionally, approximately 220 illegal gambling operators have withdrawn from the Australian market since ACMA enhanced its enforcement actions in 2017.
Consumers are advised to verify licensed gambling services using ACMA’s public register, as unlicensed platforms often lack essential customer protections. The regulator warns that players using illegal sites risk losing their funds without recourse.
