Cordish Prepares to Open Brand New Casino in Pennsylvania

The Cordish Companies, an American real estate and entertainment business, is set to proceed with the grand opening of its new Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia venue in Pennsylvania on January 19, only two months after work started on this project.

Live! Rewards Club members will get to enjoy a series of reservation-only preview days, while the general public will only get access to the new casino from February 11.

In October, the Cordish Companies made an agreement with NetEnt, the global provider of casino software and content, gaining access to their impressive library of video slots and live casino games for PlayLive!, the operator’s online casino.

NetEnt’s games have also been available in Canada since 2018, through an agreement with International Game Technology and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

PlayLive! started to operate in August 2020, becoming the first online gaming platform in Pennsylvania that was approved to go live before the corresponding physical venue was open. In this state, all casinos are required to have a land-based presence in order to be allowed to operate online gaming services.

The Cordish Companies is a very old U.S. company, it was founded all the way back in 1910, and it deals in real estate development and entertainment. They own several hotels in casinos in multiple states.

Speaking about the new venue in Pennsylvania, Joe Billhimer, executive vice president of Cordish Gaming Group, said: “We are beyond excited to go Live! in Philadelphia and bring this world-class gaming and entertainment destination to the heart of the Stadium District.

What we have created here is unrivalled anywhere in the country. Sports fans, foodies, gaming enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a night of fun and excitement only has to make one stop to experience it all.”

The property spans across 510,000 square feet and it will feature over 2,100 slots and electronic table games, along with 150 live-action table games and a poker room with 29 tables. The hotel will have 208 rooms, complemented by dining and entertainment options.

The new venue will have a ‘Play It Safe’ health and sanitation plan in place in order to help protect staff and customers as the novel coronavirus pandemic continues. The plan includes the ‘Reel Clear’ slot management system, which ensures all slot-machine customers play at a freshly sanitised machine, with enough distance from other players on nearby machines.
