The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), the state-owned Canadian provincial lottery operator, has selected Genius Sports as its official data provider for the company’s sportsbook operation.
The deal spans across the upcoming few years and it includes the LiveData and LiveTrading services from Genius Sports, which will deliver real-time data and pricing for thousands of different sporting events every year.
Moreover, the agreement includes the full portfolio of official data rights that Genius Sports holds. That portfolio includes events that should be very popular with Canadian punters, such as the English Premier League, the Canadian Premier League, top-tier soccer events from around the world, along with the basketball Euroleague.
Speaking about the deal, Mark Locke, the Chief Executive Officer of Genius Sports, pointed out that the partnership with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation “demonstrates how the nascent Canadian sports betting industry already recognizes the importance of official data in helping to protect consumers whilst delivering the most secure and compelling products for their customers.”
The Genius Sports CEO added that the Canadian sports betting market has “massive potential” and shared his belief that the British Columbia Lottery Corporation will have a competitive advantage thanks to this partnership.
