British Columbia Lottery Corporation to Receive ReelPlay Games from Light & Wonder

British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), the state-owned Canadian lottery and casino operator, has announced that it will offer ReelPlay games in its online casino following an agreement with Light & Wonder, the famous American provider of gaming products and services.

The distribution deal will see Hypernova Megaways, one of the most popular games developed by ReelPlay, a casino software company based in Australia, go live on PlayNow.com, the online casino owned and operated by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

In the following months the online casino will receive more and more titles from ReelPlay, also through the distribution agreement with Light & Wonder. The American company was formerly known as Scientific Games Corporation and completed its rebranding in 2022.

Light & Wonder has been working closely with ReelPlay in the past as well, in December 2020 the two companies reached an agreement that granted the American company a license for the application of the Infinity Reel trademark.

Speaking about the new distribution agreement with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Steve Mayes, Digital Partnerships Director at Light & Wonder, revealed that after having worked with ReelPlay for many years he expects the deal with the Canadian company to become “ a success for all parties”.

Light & Wonder launched their OpenGaming ecosystem in 2019, acting both as a game aggregator and also as a player account management platform. During the past four years the aggregator got bigger and bigger and now it offers over 3,500 casino games. Moreover, it is regulated and certified in 34 jurisdictions in the United States of America.

David Johnson, the Chief Executive Officer of ReelPlay, acknowledged that Hypernova Megaways is “one of the top performing slot games” in the North American markets and declared himself “excited” to see the company’s content reach a new regulated jurisdiction.

The BCLC was established in 1985 and it is a government-owned company. It has 890 direct employees, while its service providers provide employment for an additional 8,300 people in the province. The company’s net income goes back to the provincial government in order to help provide funding for healthcare, education and community programs.
