Great Canadian Gaming Rebrands as Great Canadian Entertainment

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, one of the most important gaming and entertainment companies in the country, has announced that its brand name will change to Great Canadian Entertainment.

The rebranding process also includes the launch of a new corporate website and the unveiling of Great Canadian Rewards, a new and exciting loyalty rewards program for the company’s twelve destinations in Ontario.

The decision comes at a crucial time in the company’s existence as it tries to expand its business both in the land-based casino industry and in the online gaming business. The new website, fully optimized for mobile use, is the first step in that direction.

In 2021, Great Canadian Gaming opened a brand new casino in Ontario, within the Pickering Casino Resort. The new casino features around 2,400 slot machines and nearly 100 live table games. Players can also enjoy online live casino games at this venue, with 140 live dealer terminals available at the property.

The Pickering Casino Resort is the 25th property of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation but its opening was quite significant as it was the first casino resort opened in Ontario in the last sixteen years. The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is based in Ontario but it operates gaming, entertainment and hospitality venues in various locations across Canada.

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is one of the oldest companies in the industry as it was established all the way back in 1982. At first the company operated only in Ontario, but then it expanded nationwide with 25 gaming, entertainment and hospitality facilities located in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.

In September 2021, the Canadian company was acquired by Raptor Acquisition Corporation, an affiliate of Apollo Global Management, a powerful international private equity firm. Raptor Acquisition Corporation acquired Great Canadian shares at the price of 45 Canadian dollars per share.

That figure was approved by the Canadian company’s shareholders as it represented the exact trade value of Great Canadian shares in February 2020, just before the coronavirus pandemic started having a significant impact on the business.

The immediate future will also bring a redevelopment and expansion of the company’s Casino Woodbine, located in Toronto, Ontario. This represents the company’s largest capital project in its history. The revamped facility will feature a new 400-room hotel, an entertainment venue with seating for 5,000 guests and an expanded gaming floor.
