Genting Malaysia, the well-known global leisure and hospitality company, has ended 2022 with an inauguration as it finally unveiled The Resorts Hudson Valley, its brand new casino located in the state of New York.
The venue has 60,000 square feet and it is located in the Newburgh Mall, just 60 miles north of New York City. The ribbon-cutting ceremony included a traditional Chinese dance performance, while over one thousand people queued to visit the new entertainment location. The casino features 1,200 slot machines and 82 electronic table games, along with the Resorts World Sports Bet Bar.
This casino is the third property owned by Resorts World in the state of New York, along with Resorts World New York City which is located in Queens and Resorts World Catskill which is in Montecillo. In these three venues the Genting Group has invested more than 1.2 billion dollars.
According to local media many residents of Newburgh have welcomed the new development as the biggest mall in the region had been in a decline in recent years. The new casino replaces a failed Bon Ton store, while the anchor store of Newburgh Mall, Sears, has permanently closed.
The city of Newburgh will receive around 3 million dollars every year from Resorts World, while the company has promised to employ locals to fill the 250 positions needed to run the casino. The Genting Group also announced that workers at the casino would get an average annual pay of around 72,000 dollars.
Moreover, the new Resorts World casino is expected to contribute around 60 million dollars in annual taxes that will support New York’s public education system. Until now, Resorts World properties in the Empire State have contributed more than 3 billion dollars in aid of New York’s public schools.
