LeoVegas Group has been awarded three B2B licenses by the Swedish Gambling Authority, enabling them to create and offer gaming software in Sweden for a period of five years. The licenses, which will be effective from July 1, 2023, have been granted to Blue Guru Games and two other platforms within the group. These licenses are a mandatory requirement for supplying software to licensed operators, as well as an essential step towards reducing unlicensed gaming companies and promoting a safer, more regulated Swedish gaming market.

Since its establishment, LeoVegas has rapidly grown from an operator to a significant player in the iGaming industry value chain, specializing in game and platform development. Starting from July 1, 2023, the Swedish Gambling Act will mandate that game software manufacturers, providers, installers, and modifiers involved in online gaming must possess a license.

More Details

The Swedish Gambling Authority has granted LeoVegas Group three five-year licenses, known as “B2B licenses,” which have been awarded to its game studio, Blue Guru Games, as well as their two platforms (PAM). The Swedish gaming license launch in 2019 was a significant step towards regulating and monitoring gaming companies in Sweden.

This regulation has strengthened rules regarding marketing and safeguarding customers, while also ensuring significant gambling taxes. The success of the B2B licensing system depends heavily on the capacity of the Swedish Gambling Authority to limit key gaming software to licensed Swedish companies and prevent unlicensed operators from attracting Swedish players.

On 1 May, the Group announced the intention to acquire game developer, Push Gaming, which holds two B2B licenses and is also licensed by the Swedish Gambling Authority. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of 2023.

Milestone Move

LeoVegas Group is a renowned online gambling company headquartered in Sweden. With a strong presence in the iGaming industry, it has established itself as a leading brand, providing a wide range of online casino games and sports betting opportunities to players worldwide.

The company was founded in 2011 with a vision to create the ultimate mobile gaming experience. LeoVegas has since become synonymous with innovation and user-friendly mobile platforms. Its dedication to delivering a seamless mobile gaming experience has earned them numerous awards and accolades.

Commenting on the latest milestone, Gustaf Hagman, CEO of LeoVegas Group, said: “We welcome the introduction of B2B licenses, a decisive step towards mitigating the impact of key gaming software being simultaneously provided to licensed operators and unlicensed operators targeting Swedish players. With the new regulations in force, it is now critical that authorities focus on those suppliers deliberately undermining the Swedish licensing system by facilitating unlicensed gaming.”
