UNLV and Playtech Partner to Promote Responsible Gambling Using AI Technology

In a joint effort to create a more responsible and sustainable gambling environment, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) International Gaming Institute (IGI) and Playtech have embarked on a multiyear collaboration. This partnership aims to leverage advanced technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, to promote safer gambling behaviors and mitigate the risks associated with gambling addiction.

The collaboration brings together UNLV’s renowned IGI, known for its research-based solutions to challenges in the global gaming industry, and Playtech, a global leader in gambling technology. Together, they aim to explore innovative ways of enhancing player protection and advancing responsible gambling through cutting-edge technological solutions.

A major focus of this partnership is the development of AI-driven solutions designed to foster responsible gambling. Playtech has committed funding to an IGI project that investigates how AI can be used to train chatbots to support safer gambling habits, especially among sports bettors. These AI-powered chatbots will be programmed to engage with players, encouraging them to make more informed and responsible decisions while placing bets. By providing real-time support, the technology is expected to reduce gambling-related harm and promote healthier gambling behaviors.

In addition to the AI project, Playtech is supporting an internship at the IGI’s Center for Gaming Innovation. This internship program is part of the inaugural Gaming Manufacturing Internship Program, which aims to nurture the next generation of innovators in the gaming industry.

Dr. Kasra Ghaharian, Director of Research at UNLV’s International Gaming Institute, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Playtech in advancing our responsible gambling research.
